UPDATED 2023: It’s reasonably well-known that public transport is free on weekdays for senior citizens, but there are thousands of other discounts and benefits available for people over 65 with the SuperGold Card.
From discounted groceries and fuel to bed & breakfast rates at hotels across New Zealand, the list of concessions cover every facet of daily life.

Food
Countdown supermarkets (selected stores) offer a 5% discount to SuperGold Card holders on Tuesdays. The card must be scanned at the checkout to apply the discount and some products aren’t included in the offer, such as tobacco products and lottery tickets.
New World supermarkets (selected stores) offer a 5% discount to seniors every Tuesday when $40 or more is spent on a single transaction.
My Food Bag offers 40% off your first My Food Bag and 50% off your first Bargain Box delivery.
The Coffee Club offers 10% off the total bill for seniors.
Fresh Choice Supermarkets offer 5% to SuperGold card holders on any Tuesday (SuperGold discount). Customers must scan their SuperGold Card at the checkout in-store to receive the discount.
Selected supermarkets offer discounts for seniors nationwide.
Utilities
Genesis Energy offers up to $100 credit for SuperGold Card holders on sign up.
2degrees offers a $10 discount on Pay Monthly mobile plans and another $5 off Home Broadband, Rural Broadband or Wireless Broadband plans. Sign up to a mobile and broadband plan and you’ll be eligible for a $10 bundle discount.
One NZ (formerly Vodafone) offers a Gold Plan for seniors, which provides 60GB of data for $40 per month on a 12-month term. The plan also includes a landline phone connection and free modem. . A further discount of $10/month is also available for One NZ mobile customers who have Endless mobile plans.
Spark NZ offers Spark Gold plans for over 65s. Gold Basic includes unlimited calls to Spark mobiles and all national landlines, 50 minutes to any NZ mobile on other networks, 50 NZ texts, and 100MB of data. Gold Talker has unlimited calls to any NZ mobile or landline, 500 NZ texts and 500MB data.
Health
Specsavers offers half price eye tests with an advanced 3D scan and 25% off the total price of one pair of glasses from $169, for SuperGold card holders.
MoleMap offers 15% off any MoleMap service at their over 50 locations around New Zealand, by simply using the code ‘GOLD15’.
NZ Online Chemist offers free prescriptions for fully subsidised medicines and free delivery when five or more items are in one order. They also offer 10% off all retail shop purchases.
Unichem (selected stores) offer between 5 - 10% off purchases, free flu vaccines and free blood pressure checks. Check your local Unichem for available discounts.
Eyepro offer 15% off all spectacle frames and have 65 locations nationwide.
Fuel and rental cars are just some of the discounts available.
Automotive
Caltex stations offer 2 cents off each litre of fuel. The offer is available at 132 locations across New Zealand.
Budget Rent A Car offers 10% off their daily rental rates for seniors with their SuperGold Card. They have 40 locations around New Zealand.
Challenge Fuel offers a minimum of 8 cents per litre every day and selected South Island stores offer up to 12 cents off per litre.
Avis Rent A Car offers 10% off car rentals for seniors.

Heritage Hotels across 6 locations, offer 15% off the best available rates.
Millennium Hotels offer special rates for seniors across their 20 locations nationwide that include Kingsgate and Copthorne Hotels, with Bed & Breakfast rates starting from $139 per night.
Auckland City Hotels offer 15% off both their properties, located in Auckland for SuperGold card holders.

Event Cinemas offers discounted snacks for Senior Cinebuzz members.
Hoyts Cinemas offer $9.50 movie tickets for sessions starting before 5pm every day
MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) offers free entry for SuperGold Card holders.
Point Chev Bowling Club offers a first-year membership for $20 to seniors.
