Card details on file (Tokens).

If you keep your card details on file with a service or business, you’re giving them permission to keep your card details saved. This means you won’t have to re-enter your details every time you make a purchase with them. Handy, right?

Your card number may be replaced with a secure number called a “Token”.

Why save your card details?

Convenient

No need to find your physical card or repeatedly enter in your card details.

Hassle-free

This means you can put recurring bills on autopilot, so you don’t miss a payment.

Things you should know.

Some businesses keep your credit card details on file, so here are some situations you may find yourself in, and what you should know:

  • If your current card is lost or stolen and you get a replacement card, your tokens won’t always be cancelled. This means that you might see your regular payments coming through on your old card number. If this happens, contact the business or service provider, and give them your new card number, so they can create a new token for it.
  • If you don’t want a business or service provider to have your card details on file, contact their customer support in the first instance, or give us a call on 0800 400 600 and we can help you.
  • If you don’t know where your card details are held and you want them deleted, you can call us, and we’ll help you sort it out.
  • Always check your credit card statements each month to make sure that you recognise all the transactions. More information on keeping your credit card details safe.
