Do I have to get a PIN for my chip card?

Yes, a PIN is required for your chip card. A PIN is designed to add another barrier against anyone else being able to fraudulently use your card, as the only person who should know your PIN is you. A PIN will allow you to use your card in EFTPOS terminals and ATMs.

You can set your own PIN in the Westpac One® app:

Select 'Cards' from the bottom tab
Select the card you want to change the PIN for
Select ‘Set new PIN’
Follow the instructions to set your PIN.

You can also set a PIN in Westpac One online banking or by visiting any Westpac branch with your card and two forms of acceptable ID.
