What happens to Joint accounts?
Joint Accounts
Joint accounts are not blocked. The other joint party/signatories can continue to operate the account. If the deceased has no outstanding debt or guarantees, we will remove the deceased customer from the joint accounts.
Please contact us if you are experiencing financial hardship due to your loss.
Joint Credit Cards and Additional Card Holders
If you have a joint credit card with the deceased, the card will be transferred into your name. Please note direct debits that were loaded on the old joint card account will not automatically transfer over to the new private card, these will need to be re-loaded on to the new card via the relevant companies.
If you are an additional card holder, the additional credit card will become invalid upon the passing of the principal card holder and you will need to apply to have your own card.
