Fees.
Fees are subject to change. Service fees may still apply. For example for unarranged overdraft fees, if you become overdrawn without an arranged limit, the interest rate charged on the overdrawn amount is 19.95% p.a. (calculated on a daily basis). An unarranged overdraft fee will also be charged (see above).
Eligibility.
To qualify for the International Student account you’ll need to:
- Have a valid student visa.
- Attend a Westpac approved tertiary institution1.
- Be studying full-time for six months or longer.
- Provide evidence of enrolment.
- Have any regular income (such as wages or lump sum payments from home) paid into your Easy Access account.
- Complete an application form.
If your application is approved, you’ll need to have any income you earn paid straight into your Easy Access account.

If you're in New Zealand, make an appointment at any Westpac branch and bring along your passport or drivers licence, a proof of address and evidence of your enrolment in a recognised tertiary institution.
Things you should know.
1 Most New Zealand Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education are approved institutions. If you’re not sure if you qualify, call us on 0800 400 600.
