Working with us.
As a Westpac graduate you'll work with industry leaders and innovators in a collaborative environment, to come up with the most innovative products, experiences and solutions.
We believe that our greatness comes from our differences, which is why we aspire to create a welcoming and diverse workplace where you can be your whole self, your true self.
We’re recognised as a place where talent is developed, where passions are fuelled and where ambitions of all shapes and sizes thrive. But you don’t have to take our word for it, see what our past grads have to say.
Applications for our 2025 graduate programme open in July.
What you can expect from Westpac as a graduate.
From day one, start with us as a permanent employee. We offer an immersive 12 month orientation programme, including coaching and mentoring support to help you succeed; tailored development workshops to guide and strengthen your technical and interpersonal skills; and a peer coaching circle you can lean on for support.
Depending on the area of the business you are in, you may complete a rotational programme to help you to learn about different parts of your business area, gaining exposure to different teams, methodologies and project experiences.
Your People Leader will be available to have regular catch-ups and discuss questions, concerns or feedback you have.
As you get closer to the end of your first 12 months, we’ll help you progress into a suitable position and continue your journey in Westpac as a university graduate alumni.

Online assessments
One-way video interview: Those who progress further will be invited to complete a short video interview. You’ll be asked to submit a video of yourself answering three questions so we can get to know you better. This is your chance to shine, so bring your ‘A’ game!. You will not be able to pause, stop or restart the interview so remember to check your mic and camera, and dress as you would for a formal interview. Tip: Get a feel the process first by recording yourself answering interview questions, and then watch it back to check your confidence, body language and ability to answer the questions being asked.
Assessment day
The day will include both individual and group assessments (for example, technical and behavioural-based short-form interviews) and gives you the chance to see if you connect with Westpac New Zealand’s purpose, values and behaviours, and ultimately decide whether we are the right organisation for you.
